Homework

The organiser of this event is the Galerie La Femme, which a few years ago started organising thematic exhibitions called Homework. Since its very beginnings, around sixty Czech artists have always participated in these, both the renowned ones (Jiří Anderle, Jaroslav Šerých, Alois Mikulka, Josef Mžyk, Boris Jirků, Michael Rittstein, Antonín Sládek, Milan Chabera, Ladislav Klusáček, Roman Brichcín, Richard Kočí, Pedja Djakovič, Jan Souček, Tomáš Hřivnáč and many others) and the promising talents of the young generation (Zdeněk Daněk, Karel Pobříslo, Richard Augustin, Daniel Krejbich and others). Since 2003, when the gallerist assigned the first topic – A Homage to One Photograph – and the artists paid homage to a photograph of a woman looking out of the window aptly titled Looking Westward (1977), there have already been thirteen pieces of Homework. When the world was commemorating the 40th anniversary of Edith Piaf’s death, the artists contributed with the homework called A Little Homage to the Great Edith. The public has also had the opportunity to see almost fifty different renderings of Luncheon on the Grass, Venus, Mona Lisa’s smile, as well as many different depictions of The Expulsion from Paradise. They have also had the chance to see woman depicted with various attributes at the exhibitions such as Woman and Automobile, Woman, Wine and Sing. Worth mentioning is also the homework by which we commemorated the origin of one of the most famous paintings, Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.
