Josef Blecha

*1952
He graduated at the University of Economics in Prague. He started drawing in 1976, his cartoons were published in The New York Times, The New York Times Review, The New Yorker or Playboy. He has organized more than 100 solo exhibitions. As part of his work, he tries to see the mind of the person portrayed, which allows him to credibly portray him and underline his specific features. Among his contemporaries, he is exceptional, especially for his clear line, which he incorporates into his collages, thus creating a unique work of art. The artistic value of his works and at the same time popularity with the public are comparable to famous Czech cartoonists such as František Bidlo, Antonín Pelc and Adolf Hoffmeister. Blecha's collections are held in private collections in Europe, America and Canada.
