Jaroslava Pešicová

(30. 12. 1935 - 30. 8. 2015)

Jaroslava Pešicová was a Czech painter, graphic artist and illustrator.

She studied at the College of Applied Arts in Prague (now the Art School of Vaclav Hollar) between 1950-1954. In 1960, she graduated at AVU (the Academy of Fine Arts) under the guidance Professor Vladimir Sychra.

Since 1960, Pešicová stared cooperation with sculptor and her future husband František Štork. Both were members of the art group Etapa, which brought together young generation of artists. Pešicová became popular as the author of narrative figural compositions, created masterfully by the technique of oil painting. With the same mastery, she could transfer the identic figures into drawings, monotypes and prints. According to her drawings, the Marie Teinitzerová´s Atelier – with whom Pešicová cooperated sind 1975 -  weaved many tapestries were  woven many tapestries.

Jaroslava Pešicová became the member of Association of Czech Graphic Artists HOLLAR Prague in 1990.

In 2003, she received the European Award for her artistic and cultural activities.
